condor ferries' exploitation.

The branch held a successful peaceful demonstration against Condor ferries and the exploitation of Ukrainian seafarers on Saturday.  This is what as termed as "social dumping" and has been the global demise of the Industry in recent years.
We have had messages of solidirty from all over the world in highlighting what we are doing and the support from the local community has been fantastic.
The next demonstartions will be held on the weekend of the 17th / 18th of August.

Branch AGM

Comrades the date and venue for the next Branch AGM will be getting confirmed in the next couple of days, we will be looking to create more roles within the branch than we currently have.
we will be looking to fill the following roles:
secretary
chair
asst secretary
vice chair
pensions officer
health and safety rep
communications officer
international liason officer
young persons rep
womens rep

whilst there is other roles we would also like to fill if we can get the above filled it would be a massive boost for the branch and the development we are currently undergoing.

Next Branch Meeting

The next branch meeting will be held in Southampton at 12.30 on Monday 15th of August 2011.

Pete Skelly our regional organiser will be in attendance and give a report to the members.

Branch meeting attendance

Good evening comrades, it was nice to see a good turnout at the last meeting on the 20th of July with 15 members attending many of which were new to branch meetings. The debate from the floor was superb covering many aspects with food for thought for many. The branch is developing and is certainly helped by the fact that we can have regular meetings due to my watchplans and being able to call on Tony George (Vice chair) in the absence of Mick Stubbs.

If we can continue to develop the branch the way we are heading and maintain these numbers it will be fantastic. well done to all.
